Psychotherapy

Our Initial Call

To begin exploring therapy with me, please call 206-785-1920 and leave your name, phone number, and good times for me to reach you. Please suggest some times to call you back when we can speak privately about what you hope to work on in therapy. When I call you back, usually within 24 hours unless you have specified another time, we will speak for about 15-20 minutes. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your availability and mine, and we’ll decide together whether to meet for our first session. If it seems like we are not a good fit for any reason, I will be happy to offer referrals to someone that I believe may be a better fit.

Our First Session

If we decide to meet, we will schedule a first session in person, at my office in Wallingford, Seattle. Contact information can be found here. I ask that all new patients come to my office about 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork ahead of their first session.

Research shows that above all else the relationship you have with your therapist determines the therapeutic outcome. To this end, this first session will determine whether we want to schedule future sessions, and as with all other sessions, will last 50 minutes. If, after this meeting, you or I have reservations about whether the is the right place for you to work on the issue you brought to therapy, I will help you to find another therapist that best suits your needs.

If we decide to continue our work together, we will agree on a set time weekly that works with your schedule for subsequent sessions. It may, or may, not be the same day of the week or time we have met initially.
